She’s blonde. She’s ambitious. She’s a material girl. She’s truthful. She’s daring. She’s reinventing herself. She’s Madonna, and she’s Dolce&Gabbana’s muse for its Spring/Summer 2025 collection. The original “Queen of Pop” sat front row under a veil of black lace and watched as her influence took over the Dolce&Gabbana runway. Stefano Gabbana and Domenico Dolce namechecked a few other ambitious blondes—Marlene Dietrich and Monica Vitti—but it was impossible to see anything but Madonna everywhere you looked.
In retaliation against “quiet luxury,” Dolce&Gabbana turned to slinky silks, fringed silver, corset stitching, lingerie lace, and other elements to seduce and amuse. From blonde wings and sassy attitudes to cone bras and pinstriped suits, it was a tour of her style evolution over the past 40 years. Coincidentally, Dolce&Gabbana is coming up on its 40th anniversary, too. The alignment between the Italian luxury fashion house and the icon they once dressed for her “Girlie” tour made so much sense. It was also infectiously fun, a fashion show that felt like it wasn’t taking itself too seriously. That was kind of the point.
She’s MADONNA, and she’s Dolce&Gabbana’s MUSE for its Spring/Summer 2025 collection.
